There are a lot of different medications available for treating sick fish. Trying to choose the right one to take care of any diseases your fish might have can be overwhelming. Here are some of the popular medications out there, and the diseases they are commonly used to treat.

1. Hikari Ich-X

This is a widely popular medication when it comes to the treatment of Ich. It can also be used for treating Velvet (Gold Dust Disease), Saprolegniasis and Trichodiniasis.

2. API General Cure

This medication is a great anti-parasitic treatment that takes care of a wide variety of parasitic diseases including velvet, anchor worm, fish lice, hole-in-the-head disease, gill worms and dactylogyrus. It is also safe for salt and freshwater aquariums.

3. Melafix

Melafix is used as an antibacterial treatment for minor infections. Common bacterial infections are open wounds, fin rot, eye cloud, and mouth fungus.

4. Pimafix

This treatment helps to alleviate problems such as fungus or cottony growth on fins, mouth and body fungus, and reddening of fins and body.

5. Malachite Green

This is most commonly used to treat external parasites, particularly when combined with formaldehyde. Malachite Green can also be used to control fungus on fish eggs.

6. Methylene Blue

This is commonly used to help treat a variety of conditions. It is anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, nitrite and ammonia poisoning, and a disinfectant.

This Helps to treat bacterial diseases including mouth fungus, open lesions and swelling, bacterial gill disease and hemorrhagic septicemia

8. API Bettafix

This heals bacterial infections, helps to repair damaged fins, ulcers, and open wounds

9. Tetracycline

This is a broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat a variety of external and internal bacterial infections in aquarium fish.

10. SeaChem Paraguard

This helps to treat ectoparasites, fungal infections, and bacterial infections.
